How do I get started?
Start by telling us what you’d like to practice through chat. Google sign-in is temporarily unavailable; our team can help with questions about lessons and scheduling.
Do I need to be moving to Korea?
No. Loving Korean music, shows, food, or everyday culture is a great place to start. If an exchange semester, language course, or degree in Korea is in your plans, we can practice campus conversations too.
What level of Korean do I need?
Our conversations suit upper-beginner to intermediate learners who can read Hangul and introduce themselves. Share your level and goals after signing in so we can plan around you. If you’re just starting out, ask us in chat about the right fit.
Who will I talk to?
Your conversation partner is a Korean university student based in Seoul. We check enrollment and Seoul base before a tutor can teach. They bring a student’s perspective on everyday Korean life. University enrollment does not imply a professional teaching qualification, and Seoulside is independent of all universities.
Will I learn slang and casual Korean?
You’ll practice natural expressions and learn when they fit. Your partner will help you tell friendly, polite, and very casual speech apart, so you know who you can use a phrase with and when to use it.
How do sessions and time zones work?
Lessons last 40 minutes on Google Meet, with five minutes afterward for your tutor’s notes. Request a time at least 48 hours ahead; we show both your local time and Korea time, including daylight saving. We aim to confirm within 24 hours. If we need more time to find a tutor, your request and reserved credit stay in place while we discuss another time with you in chat.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel an unconfirmed lesson request at any time. Once confirmed, cancel at least 24 hours before the lesson to have your reserved credit returned. For a later cancellation, message us in chat so we can review it. A returned credit can be used for another lesson; cash refunds are handled separately through chat.
Do I pay anything now?
Creating an account is free. Lesson prices are listed in US dollars. Online checkout is currently unavailable, but you can request a session and message us with any payment questions. A request does not charge you or confirm a lesson.
What if I have a different tutor next time?
Your learning profile, lesson plan, and relevant notes from previous lessons stay with your account. Your assigned tutor can review them before class and pick up where you left off. Private reflections and tutor reviews stay between you and the operator.
Can I ask questions in English?
Yes. We’re a small Korea-based team and use translation to help with English. Replies aren’t immediate. When you’re signed in, open Messages to read and reply to conversations, including scheduling messages from our team. If you chat as a guest, return in the same browser to read the reply.
